The UNFPA representative’s statement on the occasion of handing over contraceptives to SFH Rwanda Kigali, October 2, 2014

UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund has over the years provided the support to Government of Rwanda in promoting sexual and reproductive health interventions aiming at improving the quality of life of the Rwandan people.
Through the Global Programme to Enhance Reproductive Health Commodity Security (GPRHCS), UNFPA aims to provide reproductive health commodity support for the public and social marketing sectors via the following six programmes potentially operating in Rwanda: Ministry of Health (MoH), The Millennium Villages Project (MVP), International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Marie Stopes International (MSI), Society for Family Health (SFH Rwanda) and DTK International (DTK).
For the today’s event we are handing over 60,480 cycles of Microgynon30, totaling USD 16,329, to assisting the SFH Rwanda’s social marketing programme in 2014.
UNFPA and USAID have joint commitment to support recent global initiatives in the area of reproductive health, including family planning 2020 and the United Nations Commission on Life-Saving Commodities for Women and Children. By combining their distinctive comparative advantages and skills on the ground, UNFPA and USAID will support a more effective and efficient supply of reproductive health commodities and services.
