SFH Rwanda to construct 233 health posts

Tuesday 7, May 2019 – Under a 3-year initiative called the Baho Neza Integrated Health Campaign to encourage the use and distribution of contraception, SFH Rwanda will construct 233 health posts across the country. SFH Rwanda is identified as one of the implementing partners of the campaign.

Baho Neza is a 3-year countrywide project of the Ministry of Health (MOH) implemented by a consortium of local NGOs aims to achieve an overall increase in contraceptive prevalence and to improve the quality, access and utilization of antenatal care (ANC), post natal care (PNC), services countrywide. The health posts will improve access to primarily healthcare and also serve as an innovative approach to provide a comprehensive package of Family Planning services, Maternal and Child Health Care, and other health related issues, and also bridge the geographical gap to access to health care.

For the first phase, SFH Rwanda has so far constructed more than 55 health posts in different districts. According to Manasseh Wandera Gihana, the Executive Director of SFH Rwanda, having a health post that provides 24/7 health care services to the community encourages health care providers to live near and within the community thus providing quality care services, makes it easy to monitor and follow up pregnant mothers, adding that health posts have demonstrated the exceptional ability to bring access to health care services beyond the mainstream health facilities, by bringing health care services where they didn’t exist.
