Malaria Control and Prevention
SFH deploys numerous strategies and approaches to promote the consistent and correct use of mosquito nets in all households in Rwanda. SFH utilizes mid and mass media, Interpersonal Communication, edutainment, community outreaches as well as its chain of CBO’s to reach the targeted populations. We are also involved in the packaging of Primo (Yellow & Red) anti-malarial medication for children under 5, in Rwanda. The malaria Social Behaviour Change Communication campaigns and Social Marketing programs focus on availing adequate and accurate information on malaria prevention and control to the public through multiple communication channels, but mainly through;
Disseminated messages focus on correct and consistent use of LLINs, seeking early, proper hygiene and sanitation around homes and other prevention measures
Malaria Control:
SFH/Rwanda provides malaria control support to Ministry of Health. SFH’s malaria control programs include delivery of insecticide treated mosquito nets, pre-packaged malaria treatment, social and behaviour change communications on prevention and treatment, communications on household indoor residual spraying (IRS) and operational research.
