SFH’s HIV program has many Interventions, which include social marketing of HIV products and services and targeted HIV communication activities which cover and often combine mass media, interpersonal communication (IPC), community mobilization, and advocacy. SFH provides a variety of health services to reduce HIV incidences and improve access to HIV care and treatment in Rwanda.
HIV services include HIV counseling and testing, male circumcision, prevention of mother-to-child transmission and family planning/HIV integration and collectively comprise a complete package of services to reduce HIV transmission among Youth, Military and Most at Risk Populations (MRPs).
Behavior Change Communication and Voluntary Counseling Testing (VCT)
Throughout 2011, SFH reached 534,128 Most-At-Risk Populations (MARPs) with HIV ABC messages through Inter Personal Communication (IPC) sessions, 48, 143 youth were reached by ABC messages through IPC sessions and 77, 981 clients were tested including 4, 688 couples and 25,389 clients tested within Most At Risk Populations (MARPs) (sex workers (SWs) and population around the SWs sites, truckers, mobile populations (street youth and street vendors) and prisoners). The positivity average among MARPs is 8.5% and the highest positivity is within Female sex workers (24.3%). In 2011, SFH youth centers tested 21,489 youth in total.
